With the appearance of musical LLMs, we're entering a new phase of an older culture war that on the surface is just about how much gadgetry human musicians can employ before their music loses a certain hard to define human quality. But at a deeper level this culture war--unfolding increasingly on multiple fronts in the arts and elsewhere simultaneously--seems to be an ontological one, concerning our very definitions (for those of us who care about definitions at least) of music and humanity!
